March 29: As we all shelter-in-place separately, in some surprising ways we are more together than ever. During this time, The Fourth Wall will present a series of online exhibitions on our website, titled From the Studio. This week, we are pleased to feature works on paper, paintings on panel, and a video from the studios of Devon McKnight and Manuel Angeja. Both artists were scheduled for separate two-person shows, which have been postponed. We look forward to those shows in the future. Please stay safe and well.

"I just want to change my idea of painting and break it up or disembody it as much as possible, like moving across the country. You try to change your surrounding to pull yourself from your comforts to experience change and stay open. It's such a simple basic idea.... I always respond more to pieces of mine that I dont understand or that make me unsure or even frustrated as opposed to the ones that click." – Devon McKnight
"I am committed to the material practice of painting. I have a belief and understanding that content and concepts come out of working with and looking at materials.... I like to think of what I do with paint and canvas in terms of craft. It’s an old and slow communicative tradition." – Manuel Angeja
